Igor began a HANDLE programme with Sean in Slovenia in 2007 when he was in his late 20s. Here is a message from his mother in 2019.
Dear Sean, I would like to send you my "relief" message: through your therapy, still applied, Igor has become a responsible, mostly relaxed adult: he was 40 last November, and he lives on his own in the apartment he had renewed by himself - with his own financial resources, organisation and cooperative work.
The application of HANDLE therapy meant the break-through in Igor's everyday life: he could forget former events, and was less occupied with the past and repetitive behaviour; his digestion has kept mostly stabilised; his life rhythm has been less disturbed by compulsive reactions; he has become well included at his library job.
In his job assessment by his chief he is described as reliable, diligent, and professional, also keen for lifelong learning, and professional promotion. He has developed helpful and constructive relationship among his colleagues, as well as with library clients. Regarding any tensions, he mostly solves them by himself (but for temporary tutorship he is provided with at his job by two tutors, as well as in the institution, provided by a psycho–social worker).
There could be written a lot along with all the experiences, but for me, personally I can put down the following: after the first meetings with you and your therapy I could, for the first time being the mother feel less involved or even less "responsible", somehow I subconsciously could "deliver" the responsibility for Igor's progress to you whom I could intuitively trust really very well. As a parent of an adult person with disorders I am as calmed as I have never been before. Somehow in all Igor’s life periods he always had some supportive people, overcoming stressful times and tuning into his social surroundings, but your “push” was the one to make him the most independent – therefore I am very grateful.
Thank you with best regards and wishes
Manica
